    In less than 3 years since their Japan launches, Amazon’s digital video & music services, Prime Video & Amazon Music, are changing the way people consume and enjoy entertainment. Our mission is to build the widest selection of digital video and music content and make it trivially easy for customers to enjoy wherever and whenever they want.

    As Senior PR Manager, you will be asked to develop, execute and oversee strategic communications programs and events designed to support the Prime Video and Amazon Music businesses and their rapid growth in Japan. You will be relied upon as a communication advisor to Amazon’s senior business leaders both in Japan and in the U.S. You will be responsible for the proactive communication of our streaming video and music services and promotion of our popular Prime Original series and exclusive content across both video and music, and the local execution for regional and global campaigns and executions. The right candidate should have 10+ years of experience in public relations, preferably in business-to-consumer in-house or at a PR agency.

    To succeed in this role, you must have extraordinarily high judgement, strong ownership, energy, creativity, high standards for yourself and others, and Japanese and English writing and verbal skills. You must be willing to think big and long-term, without forgetting to manage the short-term, and be flexible to adapt and deal with ambiguity as priorities change.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead Amazon Entertainment’s overall communication strategy in Japan that includes external and internal communications
    • Plan and execute a strategic communications plan to support the Prime Video and Amazon Music businesses
    • Develop and oversee the execution of content publicity campaigns for Prime Video and Amazon Music, at times leveraging talent for press opportunities
    • Work closely with leadership across Prime Video and Amazon Music businesses to develop proactive media opportunities and narratives.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant media
    • Manage an internal team of PR professionals and external public relations agencies on strategy and day-to-day matters
    • Handle issues management
    • Effectively represent Amazon as a spokesperson for assigned businesses as necessary
    • Collaborate across internal teams and organization to produce effective results
    • Keep current on trends, issues and news about both the business and consumer worlds of media/entertainment
    • Manage overall budget

    Basic Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in public relations, a significant piece of which should be spent on B to C businesses in-house or PR agency, and proven track record
    • Experience in managing teams, both internal and external (i.e. PR agencies)
    • High-level media contacts across news/business, consumer, tech, and broadcast sectors
    • Proactive self-starter and collaborative team player
    • Flexibility and adaptability to manage ambiguity as priorities change
    • Exhibits ownership and commitment to delivering results
    • Excellent writing skills: A breadth of writing styles for both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to quickly produce solid communications with limited time (e.g. key messages, talking points, FAQs) both in Japanese and English
    • Excellent verbal communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively for both internal and external stakeholders both in Japanese and English
    • Organized to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while managing essential admin work

    • Strong English oral and written language skills - ability to translate between English and Japanese with an appropriate tone and nuance
