  • Job Description

    Director, China Public Policy, will run public policy (government relations) activities for part of the China business and report to the Vice President, China Public Policy, located in Beijing.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Identifying, developing, and prioritizing, with the China business and the VP, China Public Policy, the public policy goals and issue positions for AWS' technology provided in financial service industry in China;
    • Helping develop the strategy and tactics for accomplishing the public policy goals;
    • Representing public policy positions before Chinese government agencies, specifically the financial industry regulatory agencies, including banking, insurance and stock exchanges;
    • Hiring and managing external consultants as needed.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Excellent public policy and political judgment;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English;
    • Ability to function autonomously and communicate laterally and upwardly with ease;
    • Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of public policy matters;
    • Exceptional public policy, government relations, and business judgment;
    • Ability to function well in situations involving significant uncertainty and ambiguity; and
    • Strong leadership and management abilities.

    Preferred Qualifications

    At least 10 years of public policy experience in a major corporation and/or lobbying business in China is required. Experience within Chinese government and experience of FSI related sectors and areas is required, as is experience with high tech policy issues, with strong learning agility. Position is based in Beijing, with occasional domestic and international travel required.
