Based from our Japan head office in Tokyo, we are looking for a pro-active, experienced, passionate and customer-obsessed Senior Manager who will lead on establishing the strategy of building business platform in Mid Mile Transportation network to ensure the platform is robust, scalable and cost optimized through innovative program and technologies.

Role Overview
As a Sr. Manager of Mid Mile Transportation Technology, you will have the exciting opportunity to work on one of Amazon’s most ambitious and complex efforts. You will be the functional leader of transportation program/platform management in Mid Mile Transportation that will be on the center innovation, setting up the strategy and business goals with global development/program management teams and local Mid Mile business and operation team for further enhancement in its platform, and leading the functional teams toward the goals. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, taking good balance among business operations, technologies and cost optimization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role requires excellent communication with cross-functional teams who operates independently and works across functional boundaries, and proven capabilities to manage the multiple teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Understand business directions on organizations and companies, and set up the functional strategies and the associated goals to meet the directions.
  • Understand the WW directions on technologies and programs from the background deeply, and apply the directions to Japan environment with necessary localization.
  • Prioritize the business requirements based on the directions and strategies and manage the executions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
  • 10+ years experiences in following 2 areas (in total, both areas are must): 1) Technical/system analytical work in operations area (5+ years) 2) Project management, [15+ members, 5+ teams, offshore development team management, IT related projects] (5+ years)
  • Experience in building business strategies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both English, with a demonstrated ability to communicate and build consensus with various internal and external groups and senior leaders.
  • Japanese must to be native level.
  • People Management (6+ staffs)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, MS or MA (Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics or Equivalent)
  • 10+ year’s work experiences in Supply Chain/Logistics area
  • Ability to think and influence both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Ability to think innovatively, and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills.
  • Experience leading innovation and transformational change in large, technical organizations.
  • Proven record of operational excellence and defect reduction.
