Job Description

Amazon Japan seeks a dynamic, organized self-starter to join us as the Senior Finance Manager, Regional Finance Manager in our Tokyo headquarters. The Senior Manager will lead finance and controllership efforts across a region of our rapidly growing fulfillment center network, and will be responsible for helping to drive cost and process improvement. The Regional Finance Manager will also provide key decision-making support to the regional operations leadership including being a member of the management team. Duties will include:
· Managing and mentoring a growing staff of finance professionals across our network, including staff in multiple locations outside of Tokyo, leading the team and guiding team member career development
· Ensuring exceptional controllership across the network, including overseeing the monthly close process, ensuring proper controls are in place to protect the Company’s assets, and auditing data to ensure its accuracy
· Overseeing the preparation of the annual operating plan for the regional network, and managing reviews to track and update progress against the plan
· Monitoring and driving the performance of the network, including overseeing preparing and reviewing daily and weekly operational and financial metrics, and using these metrics to drive continuous operational improvement
· Championing technology and automation improvements for the finance function, including participating in the implementation of new operational tools
· Continuously seeking out opportunities for customer experience improvements and cost reduction, and partner with operations leadership to implement the opportunities

Basic Qualifications

· 7+ years of experience in finance, consulting, or a related highly-analytic field
· BA/BS degree

Preferred Qualifications

· MBA/CPA preferred
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
· Proven success in people management
· Strong PC modeling skills including intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Understanding of finance issues in an operational environment of rapid growth
· Ability to build trust, influence, and guide senior management as well as direct and indirect business owners
· Ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable priorities
· Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
· Knowledge of SQL, Cognos, Access, and/or Essbase
· Previous experience in managing financials within a distribution or manufacturing site
