Job Description

Amazon’s Tax Operations team seeks a Tax Analyst to join their dynamic group. The tax analyst is generally responsible for preparing China withholding tax (“WHT”) related documents, performing the WHT filing and payment, double tax treaty relief and foreign exchange payment record filing and assisting in various China and APAC WHT related projects. Candidate needs to be familiar with all the relevant tax laws/regulations and the withholding tax process.

  • Liaise with the business team and the vendor to collect the information/document required for the WHT filing. Review the information/document and advise on the revisions, where necessary
  • Prepare for WHT related documents, including the contract registration documents, tax assessment documents, tax filing and payment documents, treaty relief and foreign exchange payment record filing documents
  • Perform the on-site monthly WHT filing and payment for various Amazon China entities with various tax bureaus and coordinate with tax agents for WHT filing and payment for entities located outside Beijing
  • WHT file setup and maintenance and monthly WHT information/document sharing with the relevant teams
  • Address business team's enquiries on the WHT related matters and provide the WHT advice, where necessary
  • Respond to tax authority's ad hoc enquiry and requirement on timely basis
  • Provide the assistance for the project/initiative to streamline the WHT process
  • Provide the assistance for various China and APAC projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 3+ years relevant tax experience in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm
  • Expertise in China tax laws and regulations and practical experience in dealing/negotiating with tax authority
  • Strong analytical, organization and tax research skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance/supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting the required timeline
  • Highly motivated, hard-working team player able to work in a fast paced, informal, and often ambiguous environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Law

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified tax agent or certified public accountant qualification
