Job Description

Two critical missions for the Consumer Marketing team in Japan are 1)to innovate our marketing programs to drive traffic and make Amazon the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination for customers in Japan (and potential customers in outbound nations) and 2)to provide the best-in-class customer experience with highly personalized engaging marketing programs to help our customers make purchase decisions.

The Amazon Associates program is a key and integral part of our Marketing Mix to bring new customers to Amazon, drive existing customers to discover new products or programs (e.g. Prime. Amazon Video) on Amazon and increase customer loyalty. The Amazon Associates program is one of the most well-known and respected Affiliates program WW and enables our partners (from content websites, social presences to large portals) to monetize their online traffic by referring customers to Amazon.

The Senior Associates Account Manager plays a critical role driving the Amazon Associates program by managing the existing relationships with our major partners within our portfolio. He or she will be a key member of the JP Consumer Marketing team, reporting directly into the Head of Associates and will be interacting frequently with senior stakeholders in and outside of Japan. The impact of this role is significant and broad, directly/indirectly accounting for Amazon’s mission of striving to be Earth’s most customer centric company.

Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Drive sales, new customers and Amazon Prime members through Associates Channel by account management and other marketing activities including e-mail, blog posts and other tools
  • Accelerate associate partners’ affiliate activities by one-to-one communication through business meetings, calls and e-mails(including newsletters)
  • Help enterprise managed partners to achieve their business goals such as increasing revenue
  • Manage Associate Platform and some related programs in order to run Associate Program smoothly by cooperating with development teams in India
  • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with the product category team to maximize Affiliate opportunities
  • Work closely with Consumer Marketing teams overseas in designing, planning, and launching new features/programs based on Japan specific requirements.
  • Work with Consumer Marketing finance team to pursue further upside opportunities.
  • Work closely with technology teams worldwide, in areas of Consumer Marketing, Mobile, and Website Platform.
  • Make sure the company’s infrastructure, architecture, and site features support and enhance the effectiveness of Consumer Marketing team’s programs.
  • Proactively share and learn worldwide best practices, to mutually help among worldwide marketing teams and achieve goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experienced at identifying and executing successful partnership
  • Demonstrated skills in managing business partners, making trade-offs against business priorities
  • Deep knowledge of Japan Internet industry
  • Professional knowledge in digital advertising and/or online publisher business
  • Online marketing knowledge and professional experience
  • Good understanding of Search Engine Marketing
  • Ability to think big, and innovate the marketing programs
  • Passion for metrics and quantitative analysis, and ability to turn analysis into actionable programs
  • Strong drive for execution and delivering results
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with global technology and business teams
  • Both Japanese and English language skills required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of managing people and skills to effectively direct team’s efforts toward goals
  • An MBA or equivalent master degree is a plus
  • CRM (e.g. Salesforce) experience is a plus
