Job Description

Video Shopping Experience is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer for our our Video Distribution team. This team helps customers achieve their shopping goals by providing contextually relevant video content throughout a customer's shopping mission. Our primary customers are Amazon shoppers, but we also enable page owners, category owners, and developers to enhance their customers' shopping experiences with video.

As a WDE on the Distribution team, you will be responsible for building and growing a highly visible and impactful part of the shopping experience on Amazon. Today this includes the video components that appear on every product detail page, and the services that back these components. You will build out a scalable and search page, and the services that back them. You will be curious about performance and usage patterns, and find new ways to measure success, failure, and opportunity. You will build low-latency, high availability, tier-1 web applications and services that have a huge impact. You will build a platform for experimentation. You will have high visibility as you work with clients and partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2+ years of industry experience in architecting, implementing and operating scalable distributed software systems
  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective and productive
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and problem solving
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Python, Ruby, Java, C#, C++, Nodejs, JavaScript

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in computer science
  • 1+ years of industry experience in architecting, implementing and operating scalable distributed web applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Video and Media Experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
