Job Description

Are you comfortable developing and leading new businesses in the financial services sector? Amazon's Global Credit team needs an experienced Product Manager to lead the effort in launching and managing credit card and other payment products in Japan, leveraging Amazon's state of the art payment systems platform.

You will be accountable for leading initiatives to grow Amazon-branded credit card potfolio and managing relationships with our financial institution partners, including driving strategic initiatives/projects and owning financial performance. You will use your extensive background of driving innovative, customer-focused payment solutions/features from an idea to launch. You will synthesize customer feedback and data from the billions of buying experiences that Amazon enables, developing innovative solutions to improve the customers experience in using our payment products.

This role is designed for a product person who lives and breathes payments and is ready to improve not just the Amazon buying experience, but how the payments industry operates.

You will work with a team of product managers, talented developers and the biggest players in the payments industry to deliver best-in-class customer experiences. You will own developing the long-term vision and end-to-end roadmap for your suite of products. You will have a deep network of contacts within the payment ecosystem in Japan, that includes banks, card networks and payments companies and have a proven track-record of leveraging your network to successfully achieve outcomes not just on a company level, but on an industry level.

The ideal candidate will be strong in more than one or all of the following areas: a) Business management, including creating business strategy, owning P&L, and managing program metrics; b) credit card, other payment / financial product, or rewards program product management, including analyzing customers, designing financial products and loyalty points programs; and c) software product management, including creating business justifications and functional requirements for site features.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be a creative, demonstrated leader/manager with superior analytical abilities and able to create business opportunities both internally and externally to enhance the program’s ROI. This opportunity requires excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal. The successful candidate will find practical and simple solutions to complicated problems without sacrificing quality or core functionality. The candidate is entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and drives to get things done.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years+ of product management experience in managing consumer products
  • High-proficiency in both Japanese and English; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven negotiating skills and influencing abilities
  • Good organizational and project management skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • 5年以上のコンシューマー向け商品のプロダクトマネジメント経験

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA is a plus
  • 5 years+ of relevant work experience in the financial services industry – ideally in the credit card, other payment services, or loyalty program space – including airline, hotel, or other rewards programs
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in online business
  • MBA取得者歓迎
